SPIRIT OF 69 - A FILM BY MIKE SKINNER // DR. MARTENS
Musician Mike Skinner has created a film to celebrate the Spirit of 69; a modern interpretation of a look and attitude that was started back in 1969 by first generation skinheads. The parallels with Skinner and skinhead subculture are obvious: his musical education was an eclectic mix of cultural genres; including his own work with The Streets. The film is an energetic journey through the characters, music, style and sentiment of this influential multi-racial moment, inspired by the authentic individuals who lived it and still influence youth culture today. Promo video of Dr. Martens “Spirit of 69” collection, including collaborations with Trojan Records, Brutus Trimfit, Alpha Industries and Edwin Europe. A summary of British subcultures created and narrated by Mike Skinner from The Streets which mixes original archive documents with modern images. A 2-minute worth-watching summary of the of skinhead culture seasoned with some classic Jamaican music.
The collection includes Dr. Marten loafers, shoes and monkey boots, Brutus Trimfit x Dr. Martens shirts, bomber jackets (more spirit of the 80s in our opinion) and a small collaboration with Trojan Records in the form of a 7” records case. Enjoy
